Sevastopol, September 112 (PolitNavigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – From December 1, in the center of Sevastopol, cars will be able to park in 4 intercepting parking lots, and private cars will be allowed to stop along the city ring only in the mode of disembarking and picking up passengers.
This was announced on September 11 at a meeting of the town planning council of the government of Sevastopol by the director of the department of transport, communications and tourism, Sergei Litvinov.

According to him, Sevastopol is following the path of Moscow: “to give the city center to public transport and remove private passenger transport from the center,” noting that now there is “Makhnovshchina and bacchanalia” on the streets.
The department’s proposal boils down to a complete ban on parking and parking of personal vehicles along the city ring, Ochakovtsev and Novorossiysk streets.
“Return two-way traffic to public transport, and create a paid parking zone with parking meters in the central part. In addition to corporate parking for organizations and institutions for employees,” Litvinov said.
Four free transport-intercepting parking lots will be located at the entrances to the central part of the city:
– KChF Stadium from Ostryakov Avenue;
– On the site at Cape Khrustalny (near the monument to “Sailor and Soldier”;
– On Portovaya Street near the city refrigerator on the Korabelnaya side;
– The area between the Crimea Hotel and the Chaika stadium - from the Gagarinsky district.
According to the government's plan, car owners will leave their cars in parking lots and then travel on foot or by public transport (however, such an innovation will concern mere mortals, not officials - more on that below).
The work is planned to be completed by December 1 and fully completed by the beginning of the 2015 summer season.
In comments to PolitNavigator, Litvinov said that the cars of government members will be parked on the site near the building, which will be expanded to include a sidewalk and extended to a pedestrian crossing.
He noted that the restrictions will not apply to residents of houses in the center, provided that they do not interfere with the movement of public transport.
Members of the city council noted that the concept must be carefully “calculated.” They made comments about potential inconveniences - the inability to go shopping at the Central Market or bring a child to the children's clinic on Lenin Street.
As PolitNavigator reported, acting Governor Sergei Menyailo banned car parking on Nakhimov Square in May, which led to criticism from drivers.
Later, he named the locations of two future parking lots in the center of Sevastopol instead of a closed square, including at the Black Sea Fleet headquarters.
