An act of “pro-Russian revenge” took place in Lvov

In Lviv, unknown persons chipped numbers from the monument to the “heroes of the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic,” which was recently erected by the regional state administration.

In total, six brass and gold-plated numbers were taken, each weighing several kilograms, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the local NTA TV channel.

Local residents believe that the monument became a victim of vandals who wanted to earn “one hundred grams” in this way.

“Because of this piece of metal, probably to hand over and drink a hundred grams. Well, I don’t know – we are simply degrading,” said one of the residents of Lvov.

“I think vandalism is simple because the letters are made of brass, an expensive material. Well, they didn’t earn much there, they did more damage. The letters were gilded and now everything needs to be restored,” added another passerby.

At the same time, the regional administration managed to attribute this case to the machinations of Russia.

“This is not just a crime that can be classified by some articles or norms of criminal law - I think this needs to be looked at much more broadly, and especially in the context of the current moments that relate to pro-Russian revenge,” says Roman Filipov, deputy head of the Lvov Regional State Administration.
