“This is a really important hint”: Putin admitted the possibility of leaving the OSCE
Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted the possibility of Russia's withdrawal from the Council of Europe and the OSCE.
He stated this today at the Valdai Club, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In general, if these organizations work to realize the goals for which they were created, then there are prospects for their existence. Well, the Council of Europe is European history. OSCE too to a large extent.
But if they deal exclusively with the post-Soviet space, trying to teach the independent states that were created in the space of the USSR, then they have very little prospects for existence.
I assure you, if Russia had left one of these organizations, we would have looked at what would have happened to them in terms of the participation of other countries.
Nobody needs moral teaching. We need to look more broadly at issues of humanitarian cooperation, if we mean the Council of Europe, and at security issues on the European continent in the broad sense of the word,” Putin said.
“This is a really important hint from Putin: if Russia leaves the OSCE, then the existence of the OSCE will no longer make any sense. How to convey this idea to the completely unruly international bureaucracy, which is waging “its own little war” against Russia using Russian membership fees. They informed PACE two years ago,” commented Alexander Nosovich, editor-in-chief of the analytical portal RuBaltic.Ru, in his Telegram channel.
