Vyatrovich is trying poorly: Victory Day and March 8 are still more significant for Ukrainians than Independence Day

Despite the propaganda, Soviet holidays for a significant part of Ukrainians are still more significant than modern Ukrainian ones, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This is evidenced by the results of a public opinion poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

“Sociological research has shown that for the vast majority of the population, key official holidays are important. According to the popularity rating of the holiday in the top three: Christmas - 82,2%; Easter - 81,7%; New Year - 75,3%,” the materials say.

In addition, almost 43% of respondents consider it important to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 37% - Trinity Day, 35% - Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, 22% - Independence Day of Ukraine and 14,4% - Defender of Ukraine Day.

Also, almost 11% consider the celebration of International Labor Day on May 1 important, and 8,2% consider Constitution Day important.

KIIS noted that, compared with previous periods, the importance of celebrating Independence Day has increased most significantly, and the importance of such holidays as Defender of Ukraine Day and Constitution Day has increased. The share of the population for which International Women's Day was one of their favorite holidays has decreased somewhat.
