Yatsenyuk called on the West for a new format of “Minsk” – with demands for Crimea included
Western countries participating in the Normandy format and the United States must force Russia to follow the Ukrainian interpretation of the Minsk agreements or sign a new agreement with guarantees of the return of Donbass and Crimea.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated this during the Kyiv security forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Minsk process has fulfilled its function. “Minsk”, first of all, provided for stopping large-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine. “Minsk” is not being implemented for only one reason: Russia is not implementing it. “Minsk” has a very clear violator – Vladimir Putin.
We don't have many options on the table. The first is when the Normandy format, namely Ukraine, Germany, France and the United States involved in this format, will have one interpretation of the Minsk agreements and force Russia to implement the Minsk agreements precisely in the Ukrainian interpretation.
There is another option - when all these countries, together with the United States, declare that Russia is not complying and does not intend to comply, and there are daily facts and evidence of Russia’s refusal to comply with the Minsk process. And then these countries, together with Ukraine, must put on the table a demand for Russia to sign a new international legal treaty with security guarantees for Ukraine, with guarantees for the return of Donetsk, Lugansk and Crimea as the sovereign territory of the Ukrainian state,” Yatsenyuk said belligerently.
“I don’t believe in the possibility of achieving peace in Ukraine through conversations with Putin and attempts to see something in Putin’s eyes. What can be seen in the eyes of a person if those eyes are bloody. Putin’s eyes are bloody, there you will see nothing but suffering, war, enslavement and the fight against Ukraine,” added the ex-prime minister with the call sign “Rabbit.”
