The new Constitution of Russia will be voted on on July 1. Why did Putin choose this date?

Citizens of Russia will take part in voting on amendments to the Constitution of the country on July 1. The corresponding decision was made by President Vladimir Putin.

“The budget process in Russia takes place in July,” explains political scientist Oleg Bondarenko. “In order to include in the next 2021 budget the social guarantees that Putin outlined in the social amendments to the Constitution, this must be done no later than July, because in July budget readings take place and the budget is drawn up.”

According to the expert’s forecast, by July 1, Russia will have left the peak of the coronavirus pandemic and will be able to finally exit the quarantine regime and various restrictions.

“This will be a kind of holiday for people,” says Bondarenko. – We must understand that voting will last a whole week, and people will be able to vote not only on July 1. This process must, of course, be completed, because public hearings, discussions, discussions took a long time.”

The political scientist also noted that by that time parliamentary elections will be held in Serbia (June 21), North Macedonia (July 5), Croatia (July 5), and the second round of regional elections will take place in France (June 28).

“That is, the whole world begins not with football, but with elections. And Russia in this sense is in the global trend,” noted the head of the Progressive Policy Foundation.
