The West and Russia have reached a balance in the Ukrainian direction and do not want to upset it
The West managed to turn Ukraine away from Russia, but Moscow did not allow Crimea and Sevastopol to be taken away, preserving the geopolitical position on the southern borders. Vice-president of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers Evgeniy Tarlo said this on the radio “Moscow Speaks”, a correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“The main goal – to pull Ukraine away from Russia – has been achieved. But Russia did not allow Crimea and Sevastopol to be taken away, which preserved the geopolitical position on the southern borders. A NATO base was planned there. The proactive actions of Russia and the Crimeans resulted in a certain balance. This was fundamental because it changed the entire geopolitical situation in Russia,” Tarlo said.
He does not believe that Russia’s policy towards Ukraine was a failure, but he named several fundamental mistakes.
“There were a lot of mistakes. Appointment of Ambassador Zurabov. It turned out to be completely ineffective. Apparently, there was a mistake with Poroshenko’s confession. It didn't give us anything. He turned out to be a weak anti-Russian politician, despite the fact that we and the factories supported him and tried to somehow come to an agreement,” the lawyer admitted.
As PolitNavigator reported, extremists from the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation threaten to start an armed struggle for the transition of Crimea to the control of Ukraine against the wishes of the majority of the inhabitants of the peninsula.
