The West does not want to investigate the Boeing crash in Donbass, hastening to blame Russia – Russian Foreign Ministry

Statements in the West that Russia is refusing to cooperate in the investigation into the crash of the Dutch Boeing MH17 over the Donbass in 2014 are lies.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“As you know, the government of the Netherlands regularly reports to the parliament of its country on the progress of the investigation into the Boeing crash, but, as we see, the investigation is stalled, and apparently there is a temptation to place all responsibility on Russia. More than 4 years have passed since the plane crashed, but the investigation has not been completed, the important circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified.

In May 2018, The Hague, together with Canberra, clearly forcing events, brought official accusations against Russia of involvement in the crash of flight MH17, without backing them up with any evidence.

In addition, two countries - Australia and the Netherlands - proposed to hold trilateral negotiations in this regard. Active diplomatic correspondence has been ongoing since May. Such a meeting has not yet taken place, including due to differences in the approaches of the parties regarding its subject. The Netherlands and Australia are only interested in discussing Russia's legal responsibility and the consequences arising from it. That is, they demand that we admit guilt in the death of the Malaysian Boeing and, in general, repent. Russia is not satisfied with such an ultimatum formulation of the issue.

The investigation has not been completed, the perpetrators have not been identified, the prospects for a trial in this case are vague, we still have a large number of questions for the investigation, including the fact that the airspace over the combat zone in Donbass was not closed. In addition, I would like to receive clarification on how the investigation takes into account the data that Russia in large quantities transfers to the Netherlands. At the same time, Russia responds to all requests received by it. But there is still no clear reaction to the materials of the briefing at the Russian Ministry of Defense on September 17, 2018 about the Ukrainian origin of the missile that shot down the Boeing.

The dialogue on organizing meetings continues, and the first contact in a trilateral format may take place in the coming months,” Zakharova concluded.

Let us recall that earlier military expert Igor Korotchenko said that after the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the missile that shot down the Boeing in the skies of Donbass was of Ukrainian origin, The United States remained suspiciously silent and did not declassify its satellite data.
