The West has given Russia a free hand on the eve of the elections, Maidan activists lament

Western countries do not have a unified position on sanctions against Russia; the refusal to introduce a new package of measures against Moscow due to recent events in the Black and Azov Seas gives the Russians a free hand on the eve of the election of a new president of Ukraine.

Verkhovna Rada deputy, head of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, Anna Gopko, stated this in an interview with the Den newspaper, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It is obvious that the West does not have a unified position on Russia, when, for example, we are talking about voting for a third package of sanctions as a consequence of the Kremlin’s aggression in the Azov and Black Seas. They only extended the existing sanctions for six months, but never introduced new sanctions for the spread of aggression at sea.

This gives Russia a free hand to interfere in our affairs through elections, through new acts of aggression, through destabilization of regions and other things. They have a clear plan, which includes various preparations and responsible persons of the Putin regime in order to destabilize Ukraine,” Gopko shared her fears.
