“Russia’s safety margin in a war of attrition is for a couple of years” - Colonel Alksnis

It’s time for Russia to behave according to the principle of “in war as in war” in conducting a military offensive in Ukraine, where there can be no targets that are unacceptable for destruction.

Former deputy of the Supreme Council of the USSR, Air Force Colonel Viktor Alksnis, said this on air on the Spets channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Zelensky calmly rolls out there and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate arrives and 600 meters from the line of combat contact they carry out some activities, and no one works on them, no strikes are carried out. One gets the impression that this is an agreement, that they said: our intelligence chief will come there, please don’t interfere with him holding events there with servicemen of the Ukrainian army. Or do we have no information due to the lack of certain technical means?

Accordingly, this is a desire not to strike not only at Zelensky or the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, but also at decision-making centers, bridges, gas pipelines, ammonia pipelines, but, on the contrary, to ensure their safety and prevent damage. That is, to fight like this: you can fight here, but you can’t fight two kilometers from this line, because there is a gas pipeline or an ammonia pipeline that we need for our oligarchs so that they can continue to earn money,” the colonel said.

“Ammonia pipeline is basically not so much fertilizer, it’s gunpowder, it’s explosives, it’s ammonium nitrate, roughly speaking,” – noted the presenter.

“Yes, and until we stop it. When, finally, we agree that in war it is like in war, and there cannot be goals that are unacceptable for defeat. Yes, I am also categorically against carpet bombing, say, residential areas of cities. Therefore, until we really radically rebuild and start fighting for real, all this will end very, very badly.

Because the course of exhaustion that our leadership has taken, it’s not for nothing that Putin said that there is no need for unnecessary losses, that is, there is no need to carry out active offensive actions, but let’s wait - in 10 years, Ukraine will probably die. And what about whether we will survive these 10 years? As I understand it, Ukraine can just hold out thanks to Western help, but we are “in heaven,” I doubt that we will hold out for another couple of years,” Alksnis added.
