Zatulin spoke about Moscow’s mistakes in its neighboring countries

Russia is repeating the mistakes made in Ukraine, Armenia and Belarus.

Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin stated this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In Armenia, when trying to negotiate with opposition forces, the then authorities were offended. Try working with pro-Russian forces in Belarus who criticize the current president for flirting with the West. This is met with extreme jealousy and hostility. This is exactly how Yanukovych met it,” Zatulin said.

In his opinion, Russia should give more freedom to civil society and parliamentary forces, which have relative freedom of action.

“Beyond the political elites, we need to address the population of these countries, primarily Ukraine. We are to blame for this. What we did was clearly not enough, not on a large scale, without attracting forces and means that Russia could truly provide. The efforts of enthusiasts like me were clearly not enough,” the deputy added.
