Ze-Rada supported the “defense plan” against “Russian aggression”

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada today at a meeting adopted as a basis the bill on the defense plan of Ukraine initiated by President Vladimir Zelensky.

The new law provides for the development of a “defense plan for Ukraine” in the event of “armed aggression,” which will subsequently be approved personally by Zelensky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has been going on for six years. Effective response to specific threats to national interests in the military sphere requires a comprehensive and coordinated implementation of national defense tasks,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, representative of the President of Ukraine in parliament, when presenting the bill.

An alternative version of the bill was proposed by People's Deputy from the Golos party Sergei Rakhmanin, but the initiative of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's team was rejected.

“The alternative project expands the competence of the Security Council. The difference between these two bills largely lies in who exactly should formally prepare the defense plan and submit it to the president for approval.

From the point of view of the complex measures that the state requires, in the opinion of the committee, the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers are more logical, since the defense plan means the consolidation of the actions of different ministries,” explained Fedor, member of the committee on national security, defense and intelligence, deputy of the Servant of the People. Venislavsky.

The bill was supported by 316 people's deputies, 19 voted against, 9 abstained.
