Is Zelensky impotent?

Today’s shelling of the 112-Ukraine TV channel on the eve of the broadcast of Oliver Stone’s film, an expose of the events of the Euromaidan era, is a test for the new President Vladimir Zelensky.

Kiev columnist Denis Gorokhovsky writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The situation with 112 is very indicative. This is where Zelensky should call Bakanov (new acting Head of the SBU, - ed.) This is where the SBU should work out the situation within XNUMX hours and detain. Because shooting from a grenade launcher in the capital is a tradition from the times of Poroshenko. And if there is no normal reaction (with detainees and a verdict), then that means there is absolutely zero difference between Zelensky and Poroshenko. Everything is very simple.

Because if the government cannot, then it is the power of the impotent. Well, of course, we understand that the president, by law, cannot influence the SBU. Well, except for the cases specifically prescribed in the Constitution, when it is necessary to demonstrably bend a minor official at the level of secretary of the city council of the regional center,” the author notes.

“Once again: the police and the SBU should not care who ordered the shelling of office 112. Their task is to find, prove guilt and transfer it further for trial.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a wild loner, a planned act of intimidation or self-PR by the owners. This is terrorism. And for this there is criminal liability - both for the performer and for the customer.

But, given the regime of silence from law enforcement, I dare to assume that they are not at all interested in finding the culprits. And this is significant,” concluded Gorokhovsky.
