Zelensky will march along Khreshchatyk

Instead of the traditional parade, a “march of dignity” will be held in Kyiv on Ukraine’s Independence Day.

The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andrey Bogdan, stated this at a briefing in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the official, the parade is a “Soviet relic”, and therefore on August 24 there will be an event more similar to the May Day demonstration.

“Instead of a traditional parade in Soviet traditions with an expensive demonstration of military equipment, a march of dignity will take place on the main street of the capital. This European-style event is designed to establish a new tradition of honoring everyone who makes Ukraine proud. It is planned that representatives of different branches of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will march along Khreshchatyk. ATO veterans will be able to join representatives of their brigades. Along with the military, doctors, teachers, athletes, diplomats and volunteers will take part in the event. The President of Ukraine and the leadership of the state will take part in the march,” Bogdan said.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky canceled the military parade on Independence Day. The so-called militants did not agree with this decision. ATO, who announced plans to organize an alternative event.
