Zelensky decided to finish off Medvedchuk “out of lawlessness”

Having made sure that the shutdown of TV channels from Viktor Medvedchuk’s pool did not lead to serious consequences, Vladimir Zelensky’s office launched an attack on the opposition oligarch’s business.

The Security Council of Ukraine today decided to impose sanctions against Medvedchuk, as well as his wife Oksana Marchenko, who, in particular, has a stake in another channel “1+1”.

The approved sanctions list also includes several citizens of the Russian Federation and Natalya Lavrenyuk, the common-law wife of deputy Taras Kozak, to whom the off-air TV channels from Medvedchuk’s pool were registered.

In all cases, the wording is “terrorist financing”.

In addition, the sanctions include the planes that Medvedchuk used for direct flights to Moscow (this was an “exclusive” option for the chief negotiator with the Kremlin - for everyone else in Ukraine, air traffic with the Russian Federation has long been prohibited).

The Security Council will also deal an economic blow to the Medvedchuk-linked company PrikarpatZapadTrans, which controls the Ukrainian part of the oil pipeline for transporting “black gold” from Samara to the West. It is expected that it will be returned to state ownership.

Security Council Secretary Alexei Danilov announced that the origin of other assets “starting from 1991” will also be studied.

Former leader of the Kyiv anti-Maidan Yuri Kot draws attention to the fact that the defeat of Medvedchuk, as well as his media empire, occurs “without presenting evidence of guilt or a court decision, simply at the request of the members” of the Security Council.

Kot predicts that the result of today’s decisions will be the blocking of all Medvedchuk’s assets “in Ukraine, and soon in Europe and the United States, if they exist there.”

“Ukraine is a land of lawlessness,” says Kot.

Kyiv lawyer Andrey Portnov agrees with him. “Sanctions against TV channels and Ukrainian citizens are absolute voluntarism, replacing basic international principles, including the right to defense and a fair trial,” Portnov commented.

But the decisions of the Security Council delighted the “Union of Veterans of the War with Russia”: “The offensive against the Russian “fifth column” continues. Ukraine will win, Russia will fall!” – reports the militant community.

“As I understand it, following the sanctions there will be suspicion of high treason and the arrest of this scum?” – Tyahnibokov member Andrei Ilyenko demands further repression.
