Zelensky never understood that the Russians had already left Ukraine along with Donbass
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, having admitted that the residents of the Donbass republics want to join Russia and generously “allowed” them to choose where they want to live, did not understand that these people had already left along with their land.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
There was a discussion in the studio around Zelensky’s interview with four Western publications, where he, among other things, stated that all pro-Russian residents could leave Donbass.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president said that he does not believe Ukrainian polls.
“A survey was published, the majority of people (from the LDPR - ed.) want to live in Russia. It is not true. I believe and know that there are people there who are for Ukraine. There are also those that are “lost.” And finally, there are those who are for Russia. Those who are for Russia can go, Russia is now handing out illegal Russian passports. Every person has the right to choose where he wants to live,” said the Ukrainian president.
At the same time, he noted that he considers it “wrong and unfair” if “on the territory of Ukraine” someone says that he is a citizen of Russia and Ukraine, and this is “his land.”
“As for those who are “lost”: if someone has a Ukrainian passport, and then additionally receives a Russian passport and receives social support both here and there, then he has lost his way. I have no moral right to say “ugh.” We need to bring these people back to fight for them. But I would not fight for people who consider themselves only Russians,” Zelensky added.
Commenting on the Ukrainian president, Vladimir Kornilov noted that Zelensky was late with his “generosity.”
“As a Donetsk resident, I was most struck by the passage where Zelensky said that people with pro-Russian views can leave Donbass. Overall an amazing person.
He admits, he knows about the survey, he refers to it, that the majority of residents of the DPR-LPR want to join Russia, and he says: well, they can leave. What great joy! So he didn’t understand that they had already left! The DPR, LPR, residents of Donbass, along with their homes and lands, left Ukraine, he still does not understand this.
At the same time, he says: “Everyone chooses where to live” - so they chose! In your home, in Donbass! And now, when someone decides for them that you should not live here, but you should be evicted, sorry, this is a political dead end!
Donetsk and Luhansk residents live in their historical homeland, where their ancestors lived, and are not going to leave anywhere! This is what Zelensky, unfortunately, seems to have failed to understand,” Kornilov said.
