Zelensky: Vyshinsky is our hostage to be exchanged for terrorist Sentsov
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky actually admitted that journalist Kirill Vyshinsky, arrested in Ukraine, is a hostage to be exchanged for terrorist Oleg Sentsov, convicted in the Russian Federation for preparing for a terrorist attack in Crimea.
Zelensky stated this at a briefing in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are not talking about an exchange regarding our sailors - the sailors must be returned to us. If by good will, and we want this to happen in the near future, we are ready to change Vyshinsky. Sentsov is an example. We are ready to exchange for Sentsov, but this is not a bargaining chip. We would like to get all our political prisoners, all our military. If these are the first steps, we are ready...
We said regarding Mr. Vyshinsky: if these are the first steps, if these are the conditions, then we are ready, let us give you Mr. Vyshinsky, if you want, return Mr. Sentsov to us,” Zelensky said.
Earlier, Vyshinsky himself stated that he did not want to participate in the exchange, but intended to remain in Ukraine and prove his innocence in court.
