LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky welcomed the initiative of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to break the Friendship Treaty with Russia.
He wrote about this in his telegram channel.
“I was categorically against this document back in 1997-1998, because it actually approved all post-Soviet borders between Russia and Ukraine. Under this agreement, we de facto recognized the Belovezhskaya Accords. After this, we repeatedly demanded to terminate the Treaty. The LDPR submitted a corresponding bill to the State Duma in May 2018. Breaking this agreement will make it possible to challenge all the borders of Russia and Ukraine,” Zhirinovsky wrote.
As Politnavigator previously reported, today Poroshenko announced that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is preparing a package of documents necessary to begin the process of terminating the so-called Grand Treaty, that is, the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
