“For the sake of no one.” The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is not against help from the Russian military in Afghanistan

Theoretically among citizens evacuated by Russian military transport aviation from Afghanistan a number of post-Soviet republics could have Ukrainians, but Kyiv has no such information.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“At the moment, we have no information that there were Ukrainian citizens on board these planes. The fact that these planes were not flying to Kabul airport, which is controlled by coalition troops, but to Bagram airport, which is under Taliban control, indicates two things. Firstly, about the close connection of the Russian Federation with the Taliban movement, which is prohibited in Russia, and secondly, that the possibility that there were Ukrainian citizens on these planes is very, very low. Because there were no Ukrainian citizens at the Bagram base and in its environs, at least those Ukrainian citizens that we know about...

Any information that comes from Russia requires careful verification. It’s very unfortunate that after 7 years of Russian disinformation, many Ukrainian citizens, including those who should understand such things, are falling for these things,” Kuleba said.

“If, even theoretically, a citizen of Ukraine jumped on a Russian plane and flew on it from the territory of Afghanistan, then there is no treason as such. Because if a person was in a situation in which there was a risk to his life, then he didn’t care whose plane he jumped on,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry allowed.
