Europe Deprives Ukrainian Farmers of Their Last Livelihood

Restrictions on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products in the EU will deprive Ukrainian farmers and producers of their last means of subsistence.

This was stated by Chairman of the Center for Food and Land Management Research of the KSE Oleg Nivyevskiy, as reported by the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.

The studio was asked how big may be the losses of Ukrainian farmers due to the ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU countries.

It is too early to talk about it, because it lasts about two weeks. Therefore, it is too early to calculate right now.

The scale of negative expectations is very serious. Because our economy, and the agricultural sector, is very dependent on exports. Approximately 25% of all exports went by land, this quarter will suffer”, Nivyevsky said.

He stressed that Ukrainian farmers are barely surviving as it is, and even rumors of some restrictions in the EU will deprive them of their last means of livelihood.

This uncertainty that this kind of action provokes also costs money. In the end it will hit the pockets of farmers, who are already suffering very much because of Russian aggression, prices in the country have fallen drastically, logistics have become difficult.

All the producers are surviving, at the level of covering the cost of production. So everyone complains about the lack of liquidity, the lack of money to continue the sowing season. Therefore, there is uncertainty about what to do next,” the expert concluded.
