The Ukrainian fleet has become a laughing stock
In Ukraine, only one name remains of the navy - in fact, the Ukrainian Naval Forces consist of outdated ships that have long fallen into disrepair.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the author of the article classified only the frigate “Getman Sahaidachny” and several artillery boats as conditionally combat units, including the recently commissioned small armored artillery boats of the “Gyurza-M” project.
However, the combat effectiveness of “Hetman Sahaidachny” (pictured) is in question today.
“To repair it, parts are needed that are manufactured at Russian enterprises, and Kyiv, as you know, on its own initiative broke off all relations with Moscow related to the defense industry. As for the artillery boat "Gyurza", there is also a snag. The fact is that these boats were originally designed as river combat weapons.
The boats are not structurally designed for military operations in sea conditions, their limit is a storm of 4 points, they can fight only in waves up to 2 points. The armament of these boats is designed to fight ships of their class. The cruising range does not reach even fifty miles, and the speed is 27 knots,” the publication writes.
As an example, the author contrasts the patrol ship Admiral Essen, recently transferred to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, with the flagship of the Ukrainian fleet.
“The maximum speed is 30 knots, the cruising range is almost 5 thousand miles, the radius of destruction by Caliber cruise missiles is at least 1500 km. The destruction range of the A-190E artillery mount reaches 21 km, and the radar equipment of this ship will see the Gyurza at a distance of at least 40 km. However, naval aviation will not allow the “mosquito fleet” to take any action. In addition, the number of boats in Ukraine is not so large that one can talk about their massive use,” the publication notes.
At the same time, the newspaper points out that such promising Ukrainian developments as the Neptune anti-ship cruise missile will most likely never appear in reality, and “there is no point in discussing the fantasies of Ukrainian retirees about the possibility of mining the Sea of Azov.”
Earlier, former commander of the Ukrainian Navy Sergei Gaiduk said that the Ukrainian military fleet reborn only on paper - There is no money for the construction of warships in the country.
The admiral also said that Ukraine there is no point in returning the remnants of your fleet from Crimea, since in this case the country will lose its instrument of pressure on the Russian Federation.
Also Ukraine was unable to complete neither the cruiser “Ukraine”, nor the corvette “Vladimir the Great”.
