It was immediately clear that no local elections in the LDPR under Ukrainian legislation would be held without Ukraine fulfilling the terms of the Minsk agreements, just as it is absolutely obvious that Kyiv had no intention of fulfilling them.
Ukrainian political scientist Daniil Bogatyrev stated this at a press conference, the PolitNavigatoa correspondent reports.
“No one was going to hold elections in the uncontrolled territories of Donbass - that was all clear. When a little less than a year ago they told us that it would be possible to hold elections in Donbass with the next local elections - it was unjustified optimism, populism, and people in the know simply laughed at it. Because without the actual implementation of the Minsk agreements, literally to the letter, to every point, as prescribed in the Package of Measures, there will be no elections there, and no one will agree to it.
When I say “no one will go,” I mean the Russian side, meaning the separatists controlled by it. Therefore, there’s really nothing to talk about here,” the political scientist said.
