The anti-Russian mouthpiece recognized the external control of Ukraine, but calls for reconciliation

The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian citizens consider their country to be dependent on its foreign and domestic policies.

A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, as evidenced by a survey commissioned by the Western-funded magazine Ukrainian Tyzhden, which is considered one of the most rabid mouthpieces of anti-Russian propaganda.

It is noted that the question of whether today’s Ukraine is independent in the implementation of its domestic and foreign policies has turned out to be very acute. 71% of citizens answered this question negatively, with pessimists prevailing in all regions.

“Residents of the western and central regions are the most optimistic, where 30% and 20% are confident in Ukraine’s independence, while in other regions this figure ranges from 4 to 13%. Young people are somewhat more optimistic: among respondents aged 30 and younger, about a quarter are confident in Ukraine’s independence, but among those 40 and older, only 10-15% remain,” the publication writes.

It is noteworthy that here anti-Russian propagandists are forced to admit that these results “cannot be explained solely by the manipulations of ex-regionals, who have been waging a verbal war against “external control” for two years in a row.”

“Representatives of the collective West have long (and publicly) given the Ukrainian government various “homework” tasks and then announced “grades.” It was in July 2021 that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a list of reforms expected from Ukraine: to restore order in the judicial system and anti-corruption bodies, reform the Security Service of Ukraine, adopt a law on corporate governance that meets OECD standards, and the list goes on. And this is not a precedent, but a regular practice - so there is nothing to be surprised that society notices this,” the magazine writes.

However, further the author of the material, recognizing external control, tries to find something positive in it.

“A certain part of society considers the collective West our ally in the fight against a system that has been sabotaging the reforms necessary for the state for decades, protecting its own corrupt interests. In this case, a certain amount of our lack of independence may be perceived as acceptable and even desirable. But there is also a natural nationalism in society, which is not easy to reconcile with the fact that the Ukrainian government more often reports on the state of reforms to the State Department and the IMF than to its own citizens,” UT summarizes.

The survey was conducted by the research agency Info Sapiens using personal interviews during July 6-27, 2021 in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of uncontrolled territories.

As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts believe that the US is strengthening external governance of Ukraine.
