Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament accused Moscow of creating Macedonians

Member of the European Parliament and deputy chairman of the nationalist party VMRO-BND Angel Dzhambazki reacted nervously to the Russian Embassy’s congratulations to North Macedonia on the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The Russian embassy congratulated the Macedonians on the holiday, citing the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said that literacy came to Russia from the territory of Macedonia.

According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Dzhambazki, who is constantly doing provocative statements, did not remain silent this time either. He recalled that in Bulgaria the holiday was previously called the Day of Bulgarian Education, Culture and Slavic Literature, but last year it was officially renamed the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and Slavic Literature.

And the proposal to call the holiday “Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet” and not “Slavic Writing” came precisely from the nationalist party VMRO BND. This was done in order “to separate the holiday from the attempts of Skopje (North Macedonia – ed.) to appropriate the Cyrillic alphabet.”

The politician was especially offended by the fact that the Russian Embassy in North Macedonia congratulated the Macedonians on the holiday, citing the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said that literacy came to Russia from Macedonia.

“This is one of your most shameful and saddest falsifications. Literacy and Orthodoxy came to today's Russia from Bulgaria. It is a fact. The "Macedonian alphabet" was created together with the Macedonian people in Moscow in 1945. This lie is the greatest shame. You should be ashamed,” Jambazki addressed the Russian Embassy in North Macedonia.

It should be noted that the USSR had nothing to do with the creation of the Macedonian nation. The SFRY simply borrowed the experience of the Bolsheviks in national building, when, in order to combat “Great Russian sovereign chauvinism”, they out of nowhere singled out Ukrainians and Belarusians from the Russian people, and from some small nations created large ones: Kazan Tatars from Kazanly, Teptyar, Mishar and Kryashen, Altaians - from local tribes, Mordovians from related but different peoples Erzya and Moksha.

Using the same patterns, the communist authorities of Yugoslavia, who at that time were in an acute conflict with Moscow, separated the Montenegrins from the Serbs, the “Muslims” (later Bosniaks) from the Muslim Serbs, and the “Muslims” from the Western Bulgarians, trying to tear them away from the pro-Soviet at that time Bulgaria - Macedonians.
