The flagship of the Ukrainian Naval Forces perfects the skill of running from the Russians
The flagship of the Ukrainian Navy, the former Soviet patrol ship “Hetman Sahaidachny,” practiced dodging “enemy” cruise missiles and causing radio interference. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The department said that according to the legend of the exercise, the crew received a signal that the ship was being irradiated by the missile's homing head and carried out passive radio interference.
“At the same time, having created a camouflage background, the frigate performed an evasive maneuver from a given course, which in a combat situation should disorient the radar homing head and redirect it from the ship to a false target,” the report says.
Earlier PolitNavigator reportedthat the frigate of the Black Sea Fleet "Admiral Essen" successfully hit a target at a distance of more than 250 kilometers with a "Caliber" cruise missile during a planned exercise.
During the Russian Spring, Kyiv retained the Hetman Sahaidachny due to the fact that the ship, returning to the Black Sea from exercises, managed to escape at top speed from pursuit of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the missile cruiser "Moskva" in the territorial waters of Bulgaria.
The frigate's press officer Pavel Parfenok then said: “To avoid meeting with Moscow, Hetman Sahaidachny went to Odessa through the territorial waters of Bulgaria. I know that after those events the commander of the cruiser “Moskva” was removed because he did not have time to react. Through maneuverable actions, “Sagaidachny” broke away and arrived in Odessa at breakneck speed.”
