Either stand or fall: Maidan activist Mustafa took up the rearmament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
In Ukraine, tests of a new mortar are being completed, which is built on the basis of the scandalous “Hammer”, which claimed the lives of several Ukrainian soldiers and was rejected by the country’s Ministry of Defense.
Mustafa Nayem, deputy director of the state concern Ukroboronprom, former Maidan activist journalist, reported this on the radio “Novoe Vremya”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Nayem, the mortar was developed by the Kyiv Mayak plant and could enter service with the troops by next year.
“On mortars, I think that we will have big news already, maybe before the end of this or next year. I really hope that a new model of the mortar, which is now undergoing the final stages of testing, will already be put into service. This is news because we haven't talked about it yet. I hope that he will fully take into account all the shortcomings that existed before.
By the way, the documentation for this mortar was stolen by a private company, which also tried to put it into service, but it’s not worth it yet - we’ll wait to see how the situation with the Ministry of Defense is resolved. I hope that next year we will enter the state defense order...
There is a question regarding the mortar - you know that there was a tragic story with the Molot mortar. This is a new model, that is, a redesigned model, and it will be called differently, but I think this should be given to the plant itself, the designers and employees,” Nayem said.
It was previously reported that since 2016, the Armed Forces of Ukraine more than a hundred explosions occurred Molot mortars, which killed more than 80 Ukrainian militants.
This was recognized by one of the founders of the Azov National Battalion, Andrei Biletsky. He stated that within a year from the explosion of low-quality Ukrainian Hammer mortars Dozens of Ukrainians have already died military personnel, but the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attributes these cases to “enemy shelling.”
Similar data voiced by ex-deputy Verkhovna Rada Taras Pastukh.
However, one of the main lobbyists for the production of Molot, Sergei Pashinsky, being the head of the Verkhovna Rada Defense Committee, stated that criticism of mortars was the machinations of the FSB.
