The West deceived Ukraine with the Budapest Memorandum, forcing it to give up nuclear weapons, and therefore NATO countries must provide weapons to Ukraine.
Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a big request to them [Western partners] - to help us with defense systems. We do not require weapons for attack, we require weapons for defense. In 1994, when we were deceived, the Russian Federation took away nuclear warheads, and today the whole world, including the United States, is blackmailing us. We should be compensated for this. There was no adequate monetary compensation, and today we demand assistance in defense weapons. Whether it will be provided or not, we’ll see how it happens,” Danilov said.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they explained that the Budapest Memorandum has exclusively declarative nature and does not give Ukraine any security guarantees.
However, this did not prevent Ukrainian politicians from demanding from the West for violating the memorandum help Ukrainian army and pay Kyiv $200 billion in compensation.
