The tram released in Donetsk indicates that the Donbass cares about preserving the remaining industrial potential.

“In the current situation of total deindustrialization, this is a big plus. The general trend in Ukraine is that we are losing potential, we are losing mechanical engineering, heading towards an agricultural superpower. If somewhere they understand that the country cannot be fed by growing sunflowers and rapeseed alone, people demonstrate a different level of understanding of the tasks and potential of the economy,” said Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector analytical center.
“The Donbass has always been home to smart, creative people who could solve the most complex problems. They continue to solve them, regardless of whether there is a war or not. We saw when people from Donetsk ruled this country and what the consequences were. Moreover, we need to remember not the same Yanukovych, but earlier figures like Pyotr Shelest. The launch of tram production in Donetsk is further proof of who is who in this land of long-suffering Ukraine,” said political scientist Alexander Semchenko.

Deputy of the National Assembly of the DPR Miroslav Rudenko assessed this as the first step towards the development of the entire mechanical engineering industry as a whole in the DPR. According to him, having overcome the threshold of survival in conditions of war and blockade, The DPR is confidently reaching a qualitatively new level, establishing domestic mechanical engineering.
