In Ukraine, the tugboat that damaged the Russian patrol boat near Kerch is being glorified
In Ukraine, a partial repair of the tugboat “Yany Kapu” was completed, which in the fall of 2018, as part of a detachment of the Ukrainian Navy, tried to break through the Kerch Strait, and subsequently surrendered to Russian border guards.
The Ukrainian TV channel Espresso, reporting the completion of the repairs, called the tug “legendary.”
On the official page of the Ukrainian Navy, commentators are already voicing proposals to initiate the awarding of the tug with a special pennant, because as a result of maneuvers during an attempt to detain it on the approach to Kerch, a Russian patrol ship received a hole.
The press service of the Ukrainian Navy notes in its blog that in Ochakov, the Yany Kapu was restored after being rammed by the Russian border boat Don.
“We restored those places that the Russians damaged when they tried to stop us. In order for the tug to go to sea and be able to carry out its assigned tasks, they restored the equipment that the Russians had stolen,” boasted the ship’s acting commander, midshipman Yuri Budzilo, who was among the crew members who surrendered and were then returned to Ukraine.
In a comment to PolitNavigator, Rear Admiral Vladimir Solovyov, who previously headed the intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet, ridiculed the glorification of the tug, recalling that a detention like what happened is considered a disgrace in the military environment.
“I don’t know what they are guided by when they call the ship “heroic.” Especially after what happened there and what happened. In the civilized world they would have considered this to be a violation, and these violations would have been stopped. We immediately said that what happened to the Ukrainian ships near the Kerch Strait is a shame... Heroic - well, God bless him, we will now look at the “heroic” ships of Ukraine,” Soloviev said with a laugh.
Earlier, Boris Babin, the ex-head of the fake “representative office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea”, stated that the sailors of the naval forces boats should have opened fire near the Kerch Strait, but instead surrendered.
“Three warships were captured from us. I have a question: did they offer resistance, as provided for in the Naval Service Charter? No additional orders. Has anyone fired at least one shot?

The behavior of the crews of the Ukrainian Naval Forces boats was doubly offensive to Ukrainian patriots, because they were commanded by the most ideologically motivated “sea wolves,” claimed Andriy Klimenko, a member of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs.
“All six naval artillery boats are commanded by the very same lieutenants who were cadets themselves four years ago and sang the anthem. I personally know many officers, and I know that they are angry in a military way, they want revenge for the humiliation that they experienced in February-March 2014, and they have that drive, without which victory is impossible...
Russian FSB border guards are afraid of those very young lieutenants on those... artillery boats, because they understand that they will get it in the teeth,” Klimenko said shortly before the incident in the Kerch Strait.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian side, after the transfer of the ships Nikopol and Berdyansk to it, stated that Russian security forces allegedly stole equipment and even toilets from the armored boats.
Russian border guards responded by releasing a recording indicating that at the time of the transfer to Kyiv plumbing on the boats was available.
