The grave of Bogdan Khmelnitsky was found in Ukraine
In Subbotov, Cherkasy region, under the Ilyinskaya Church, an underground crypt was found, which, according to experts, may be the burial place of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and his son, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it on your website reports the public organization “Foundation Great Lokh”, which is engaged in historical research.
“In Subbotov, scientists have found a probable burial place for Khmelnytsky. In the family church-tomb, georadars recorded an ancient crypt. Experts suggest that this is the hetman’s burial place, which has been sought for more than 300 years,” the report says.
Candidate of Geological Sciences, senior researcher at the research laboratory of theoretical and applied geophysics, Institute of Geology, Kyiv National University. Taras Shevchenko Ksenia Bondar noted that during exploration in the Elias Church, one of the most common and proven geophysical methods in world practice was used - the method of high-frequency electromagnetic sounding, or the georadar method. Using four georadars with different operating frequencies and, accordingly, different resolutions and depths, we examined the space under the floor of the church to a depth of more than 4 m.
“Based on the results of processing GPR data, we received a clear three-dimensional image of an anomaly in the central part of the church. Its geometry and dimensions (length 3 m, width 1,3 m) correspond to an object similar to a crypt,” said Bondar.
