The degradation of statehood continues in Ukraine

Another political crisis is flaring up in Ukraine related to the decision of the Constitutional Court, which declared illegal a number of aspects of the activities of anti-corruption bodies created under the patronage of the West.

The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

It is noted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky submitted to parliament a bill to dissolve the Constitutional Court.

“The verdict of the Constitutional Court caused outrage on the verge of hysteria among the ambassadors of the G7 countries and the pro-Western lobby in Ukraine: Zelensky was directly blackmailed with excommunication from IMF loans, as well as the abolition of the visa-free regime. And he rushed to correct the situation: in addition to the bill on the dissolution of the Constitutional Court - a priori unconstitutional - law enforcement agencies began to put pressure on the judges, and radicals and neo-Nazis, recently allied with Zelensky, came out to rally at the court building,” the publication explains the president’s motives.

The article also explains the reason for such a sharp reaction from Western embassies, under whose patronage a structure to combat corruption was built in Ukraine, independent of local authorities.

“Simply put, the “Western partners” have monopolized and institutionalized Ukrainian corruption, having received the most effective lever for controlling the local elite: who can steal in Ukraine is now decided at the US Embassy. With its decision, the Constitutional Court knocked the keys to control the entire system out of the hands of foreigners, “nationalizing” corruption,” the newspaper writes.

For now, the publication notes, resolution of the conflict has been postponed, at least until the name of the US President is determined, but Zelensky’s office continues to collect parliamentary votes for the bill to dissolve the Constitutional Court.

“However, the majority – even the usual one, with 226 mandates, not to mention the constitutional one, as the media report, has not yet been formed. Meanwhile, opponents of this impulsive decision explain to Zelensky, a lawyer by training, the principle of separation of powers, reminding him that the decisions of the Constitutional Court cannot be canceled in any way, that the dissolution of the court is not provided for by the basic law and means usurpation of power with impeachment and criminal liability in the future. In other words, this is a story not about the constitution, but about external governance and the ongoing degradation of statehood in Ukraine, the most striking symbol of which today is its president,” RG summarizes.
