Drugs have become a serious problem for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
In combat positions, Ukrainian military personnel widely use drugs such as marijuana and amphetamine.
The Kiev online publication “Apostrophe” writes about this, citing an interlocutor in the Ukrainian air assault brigade, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication's interlocutor stipulates that we are not talking about injection drug addicts.
“But marijuana and amphetamines are used everywhere in combat positions. In general, stimulants were always taken in all wars. Many guys take drugs who are not drug addicts in civilian life and have never tried anything, but in order to cheer up, there are cases when they snort amphetamine. Senses are heightened, I don’t want to sleep. Lots of grass too. True, in four years at the front I have not met a single injection drug addict,” says the Ukrainian serviceman.
In turn, military psychologist Andrei Kozinchuk said that getting, for example, amphetamine or marijuana at the front is not a big problem.
“It’s no more difficult to get drugs there than in civilian life. There may be several options: either the military personnel take the drugs with them to the front. Or “friends” bring them. Plus, don’t forget about the specifics of the region: there have never been any problems with drugs in Donbass. For example, I saw when vodka and everything you needed to “relax” were brought to a training ground, which is located 16 kilometers from the nearest settlement, so there are no problems with getting drugs,” Kozinchuk emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, to “stick around” in the rear, Ukrainian Armed Forces officer left his place of duty without permission with a weapon.
