The Netherlands intend to extract compensation from Ukraine for Boeing

The decision of the majority of the members of the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament, where they demanded an investigation Ukraine’s role in the crash of the Malaysian Boeing in the Donbass is explained by the desire of the relatives of the dead passengers to receive compensation from the perpetrators.

Oleg Smirnov, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Commission of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor, spoke about this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.

He noted that Ukraine was obliged to close the airspace over the conflict zone, since these circumstances are clearly stated in the documents of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which consists of 192 states.

“According to these rules, the country on whose territory there is an armed conflict is obliged to close the airspace above the conflict zone to civil aviation. Ukraine grossly and brazenly violated these rules, as a result of which this disaster occurred. The nuances of the disaster can be investigated, but Ukraine is the root cause of what happened. ICAO recommendations are mandatory. Both Ukraine and the Netherlands were obliged to adhere to them. But the Dutch authorities did not control this situation, and they are also to blame,” Smirnov said.

He also does not understand why an investigation into Ukraine’s guilt was not launched on the day of the disaster, but at the same time representatives of Kyiv joined the commission investigating the incident.

“I participated in the investigation of more than one disaster. And I have never encountered anything like this. On the day of that tragedy, US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron openly blamed Russia for what happened. They stated that they had certain documents, but they were not provided. Next, a commission was created, which produced absolutely incompetent results of the “investigation.” Many statements are not supported by any evidence. And this despite the fact that until now (!) all the wreckage of the plane has not been collected,” the expert emphasized.

In his opinion, the appeal of the Dutch deputies to investigate the possible guilt of Ukraine was the result of several factors, one of which was the lack of intelligible results of the “official” investigation.

“Russia, unlike Ukraine, is not involved in the investigation. Malaysia too. Recently, the prime minister of this country openly expressed outrage at this situation. According to him, the purpose of the investigation was to “find Russia’s guilt,” and not to establish the true picture of what happened. Another problem is that all these years the relatives of the dead Dutch have been demanding satisfaction. The culprit must pay. But it has not yet been announced who will pay for these multi-billion dollar sums. Perhaps that is why they decided to look for the true culprits for the first time,” Smirnov said.

He believes that an objective investigation of the disaster is only possible if the Ukrainian side is removed from it and Malaysia, as well as ICAO experts, are involved.

It is noteworthy that Ukraine recently extradited to Russia the head of the air defense of the First Slavic Brigade of the DPR, Vladimir Tsemakh, whom in Kyiv called “key witness” in the Boeing case.

Former press secretary of the head of the SBU Stanislav Rechinsky believes that Tsemakh was deliberately extradited, to avoid the troubles that threatened Ukraine at trial.
