A State Department spokesman threatened the Bosnian Serb leader with consequences over the phone.

Special Advisor to the US Secretary of State Derek Cholet had a telephone conversation with the Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik.

In the conversation, the American said that Republika Srpska’s actions to return the powers taken away from it “will have consequences.”

According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the topic of conversation between Cholet and Dodik was the initiative initiated by the People's Assembly of the Republika Srpska process the return of the Dayton powers taken from her by the High Representatives. At the same time, in the version of the State Department representative, the topic was “the unacceptable steps of the ruling coalition in the Republika Srpska aimed at undermining the institutions of BiH.”

“Corruption and actions against the Dayton agreement have consequences,” the American said. “It is necessary to return to dialogue within the institutions of BiH.”

During his recent visit to BiH, Derk Scholet concluded that the withdrawal of the RS from the country's state institutions would lead Bosnia to an economic impasse, weakening the rule of law and putting it at risk.
