The fact that Medvedchuk’s life is in danger became known from the words of Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Opposition Bloc faction, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Choice – the Right of the People movement, Vasily Nimchenko, the publication writes. – The other day he announced that back in February of this year. Viktor Medvedchuk received reliable information about the preparation of the assassination attempt. According to a source whose name is not mentioned, on February 18, in the Kiev House of Officers, “a closed meeting of the leaders of various organizations was held, including the leaders of the “combat wing of the Maidan” and (volunteer - “NG”) battalions.”
Among others, Andrei Levus, Sergei Vysotsky, Nikolai Knyazhitsky were allegedly present there (deputies from the Popular Front faction of Arseniy Yatsenyuk - NG). At this meeting, as follows from a message posted on the website of the public movement - with reference to a source, "the indicated persons insisted on the immediate physical liquidation of Viktor Medvedchuk as posing a threat to national democratic Ukraine."
“Deputy Nimchenko noted that since then the radicals have attacked Medvedchuk’s house and broken into the office of the public movement several times: “The attacks were accompanied by the use of violence, threats to the lives of employees and statements of intention to commit physical violence against the leader of the movement, Viktor Medvedchuk.” But the investigation begins only now: on November 18, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv ordered the National Police of Ukraine to enter into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations information about a criminal offense in connection with the preparation of the murder of Medvedchuk, Nimchenko reported,” NG points out.
