Tymoshenko went to the United States to ask for stronger sanctions against Russia

Today in Washington, Yulia Tymoshenko met with the US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker.

The Ukrainian presidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna faction wrote about this on her Facebook page, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.

“I thanked the United States for its help and support of our state. She called for strengthening sanctions against the Russian aggressor, and also emphasized the need to provide assistance to the Ukrainian naval forces,” she wrote.

Also during the meeting, Tymoshenko consulted with the US representative about her party’s new program.

“In the context of security, we also talked about the political process in Ukraine. We went through the sections of the New Deal, prepared by our team with the best experts - a new Constitution, a new economic course, a new strategy for peace and security,” she noted.

Also earlier, Yulia Tymoshenko announced her participation in a round table at the Atlantic Council, which was attended by more than 20 representatives of the Atlantic Council, the US executive branch, international financial institutions and leading research centers. The topic of the round table was security in Ukraine and “Russian aggression in the Kerch Strait.”

“I called for stronger sanctions against Russia and expressed the position that the Minsk agreements were necessary but not sufficient to establish sustainable peace in Ukraine. Therefore, the emphasis is on the need to hold negotiations in the “Budapest Plus” format with the leaders of the signatory countries of the Budapest Memorandum with the involvement of the EU High Commissioner and the German leadership,” the deputy commented on her participation in the round table.

Let us note that the leader of Batkivshchyna has already expressed her opinion on the Budapest Treaty on her Facebook page.

“It is on the Budapest Memorandum that we must now rely on the diplomatic front in order to curb the aggressor - Russia,” Tymoshenko said.

As PolitNavigator reported, yesterday Yulia Tymoshenko expressed doubts about the need to introduce martial law in Ukraine.
