The Ukrainian army was unable to master complex systems
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to remain an army hopelessly lagging behind the Russian one in terms of technical equipment.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that in an article published by the Kiev online publication Zerkalo Nedeli, Valentin Badrak, director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Research, writes about this, noting that over the past 10 years the Russian army has made a real breakthrough in the implementation of automatic troop control systems (ATCS).
At the same time, the expert admits that there are practically no resources allocated for the development of automation of control of the Ukrainian army.
“By the way, in terms of communications, everything looks thin: having decided to purchase American Harris communications equipment, the General Staff requested them for approximately two battalions. This is the rate at which the army will be re-equipped within two decades, no less. But there is even more depressing information. For example, the fact that Elbit Systems communications equipment purchased in Israel (at the request of the Ukrainian side, the Israelis equipped one brigade with them) is not used - according to sources in the army, “due to technical complexity,” the publication notes.
“The story with the Turkish communications equipment of the Aselsan company is no less tragicomic, which is avoided by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and there is even talk of abandoning them due to alleged interruptions, in particular on armored facilities,” the author continues. – Whereas in reality it turns out that communication problems arise due to old headsets, outdated Soviet wiring and ancient sensors. Such nuances are at least alarming.”
The expert also comes to the conclusion that the military leadership of Ukraine “professed a conservative approach, building essentially a “small Soviet army” in 2014–2020.
True, Badrak, even in such a depressing situation, tries to be optimistic, assuring that “Ukraine, as an IT state, is capable of making a leap in two or three years, which took other countries 15–20 years in the field of automation of troop control.”
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense and National Security debunked the myth about the alleged successes of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, saying that Ukrainian ceiling - Dozor armored car and Molot mortar, and not serious modern weapons.
In turn, ex-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Lopata said that for a successful war with Russia, Ukraine has a lot of effective equipment from the Great Patriotic War and you just need to prepare crews and crews for this equipment.
