Ukrainian political scientist: Kyiv may implement the Minsk agreements this year

The Ukrainian budget will not withstand the continuation of the confrontation in Donbass, and the West is not interested in this, so Kyiv will have to abandon aggressive rhetoric and implement the Minsk agreements.

Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Valentin Yakushik stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I think that the Minsk agreements will be implemented this year - as the text itself suggests. In other words, not by seizing territories, as Avakov and Lutsenko told us about: purges, deprivation of voting rights. And there will be normal conditions for existence - one country, two systems, temporarily, as in Hong Kong. I really hope and count on this, and I see this scenario.

Another scenario: a freeze, if for some reason it doesn’t work out normally, then this conflict will be frozen, but the Ukrainian budget will not stand it. Europe doesn’t need this, and the Americans don’t need this either. In my opinion, this year there will be a detente, there will be a place for Donbass in Ukraine, and relations between the United States, Russia and Europe will calm down,” Yakushik said.

Earlier, Moscow stated that the United States should compel the Kiev regime to fulfill its obligations to implement the Minsk agreements.

Let us remind you that Donetsk and Lugansk long ago made a clear choice in favor of Russia.
