If Poroshenko is re-elected, what else will fall away from Ukraine?
The re-election of the unpopular Petro Poroshenko for a second term through various machinations threatens Ukraine with a third Maidan. Political strategist Sergei Gaidai stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Poroshenko refuses to resign because he fears that, having lost the presidency, he will lose his assets, both in Ukraine and, probably, abroad.
“If he is not re-elected for a second term, his fate seems very sad. We must clearly understand why Pyotr Alekseevich is in politics. He is so that, let’s say, his journey to increase his assets, wealth, and capital, which he began long ago, would be successful. And the political instrument, at least since 98, has given him unlimited opportunities, which he has always used to the fullest at all times, in all years. And in this case, in the presidency too.
And then, if his presidency ends, there is a high probability that his assets will be taken away, corruption schemes will begin to be revealed, and political and criminal prosecution will begin. In general, everything will be sad for him.
The maximum that will remain for him is to go to his estate in Marbella and live out his life. This is extremely sad, and secondly, there are no guarantees that law enforcement agencies, both the world’s and ours, will not get hold of him there. And for him to go to Moscow is a complete disaster,” Gaidai said.
At the same time, the expert noted that Poroshenko, nevertheless, would not be worth putting forward his candidacy for a second term, since this threatens Ukraine with a third Maidan: “We still need to finish this. Imagine, he becomes president. And here we will talk about Yanukovych. Despite the fact that it was difficult to imagine that Yanukovych would not serve out his first term, but, one way or another, they still talked about it, that discontent in society was so high, in the end these experts turned out to be right. If Pyotr Alekseevich remains for a second term, then, I think, a third Maidan is possible. Do we need this? Now, if he were a truly moral person, he, of course, seeing this danger, but he, unfortunately, does not see it, would feel sorry for this country and would not run for a second term.”
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that during mass rallies in Kyiv, officers loyal to Poroshenko The Ukrainian Armed Forces deploy heavy weapons in residential areas of the city. If radicals threaten to seize power, they are ordered to shoot to kill at protesters
