Everything is mixed up in the Makeev house: the relatives of the Belarusian minister scold his subordinates

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, known for his pro-Western and nationalist views, tried to clumsily justify himself for scandalous comment from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, in which diplomats presented claims to Alaska to the United States.

Makei left his excuses on his Instagram, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The huge number of comments regarding yesterday’s statement by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the constitutional majority is positive, indicates the correctness and relevance of the issue. By the way, this statement applies not only to overseas partners, but also to those who are closer..."Makei wrote, adding the motto of the 19th century anti-Russian Polish uprising "I Love Belarus".

It is difficult to understand which “partners” the Belarusian minister had in mind. The Foreign Ministry's commentary speaks in an openly mocking manner only about the United States. But the day before, Makei had some telephone conversations with Advisor to the US Secretary of State Derek Cholet and, apparently, he needed to justify himself.

Opposition Belarusian publicist Artem Shraibman believes that by making such a comment, Makei cannot help but understand that he is speaking out against the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

“In today’s atmosphere within the state apparatus, all departments must show their pioneering enthusiasm without respite. There are no brakes, no one dares to say from the inside that colleagues are skidding on turns - this is a direct path to loss of trust.

Makey Sr. said that the recipients of this statement are not only overseas, but also closer. Absolutely agree. All recipients, or even the addressee, are within the country,” Shreibman wrote in his Telegram channel.

But the minister's son was more categorical. On the social network LinkedIn, Vitaly Makei criticized the statement of his former colleagues (he resigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the start of Belomaidan).

“Having previously worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, I was always proud that I belonged to a community of professionals. I have been convinced many times that the intelligence, education, culture and erudition of our diplomats are not clichés, but real qualities of people working for the good of the country. It is all the more sad to observe a number of public statements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently, including the current commentary,” Vitaly wrote on LinkedIn.

“Deliberately boorish daring will never replace argumentation and style, but will only emphasize mediocrity. I am sad that my former colleagues, many of whom I have sincere friendly feelings for, are forced to put up with a situation in which free creative creativity is impossible. I would very much like professionals to preserve their knowledge, skills, experience and moral guidelines in this suffocating time. We will all still need them,” Mackay Jr. wrote.

It is noteworthy that his wife Margarita signed a petition against the ban on the nationalist red and white flag, which was initiated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The Makei family's comments are actively published by pro-Western opposition media, with which the minister previously maintained excellent relations. Perhaps we are talking about a campaign of justification in the eyes of common sponsors.
