“Everyone washes their hands of it” – Moscow explained why judges refuse to sentence Poroshenko

Trying to judge ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko demonstrates how failed the Ukrainian state system has proven to be.

Political commentator Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“They are now going to prosecute Poroshenko under an article that he himself introduced into the Criminal Code - “Insulting the honor and dignity of the President of Ukraine.” He is being tried by a judge appointed by Poroshenko himself.

Here it is, the entire judicial system, the law enforcement system. Now Poroshenko, who created this system, just like Saakashvili in Georgia, who supposedly created those reforms, he shouts: “Everything is corrupt, everyone is bought, everyone violates law and order.

This is for our liberals, who say that Georgia has succeeded in something, Ukraine has succeeded in doing something. This is the best refutation of all these myths,” he said.

In turn, Vladimir Oleynik, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of a number of previous convocations, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, noted that the court against Petro Poroshenko is complete insanity.

“The embarrassment is that he is being judged by a judge whom he himself appointed five years ago. An honest man, Poroshenko cannot sign a decree on a person who is not worthy to be a judge.

This is complete insanity. As the former chairman of the court, I say that this is a conflict of interest, we must recuse ourselves. But there is probably someone to this judge who says, “Don’t you dare.” It is no coincidence that Poroshenko petitioned for a change of court. But they left it.

I'll say it's a bad thing. There the prosecutor general must sign, but the deputy signed. Everyone washes their hands. We'll see how this ends, because today many judges have already understood this story - we're left alone.

As soon as I made the decision to seize Poroshenko’s property, I immediately ended up with the Peacemaker, and then they will put pressure on me. That is, you will be left alone with Poroshenko. Zelensky, the Prosecutor General, will wash his hands of it,” Oleynik said.

Let us remind you that the judge in Kyiv, who was considering the preventive measure for Petro Poroshenko, was unable to make a decision after ten hours of the hearing. As a result, late in the evening it was announced transfer of court on 19 January.
