Cover up ethnic hatred. Two words about the initiative of Chechen deputies
For some reason it’s not surprising, honestly. And the reaction on the Internet appeared accordingly. As they say, to the point. “I think it is not entirely correct to indicate in the news the cities in which the dismemberment took place: this casts a shadow on the residents of St. Petersburg.”
So what is sarcasm about? What, gentlemen, comrades, are you being ironic about? But the expected news arrived. Let us announce: “The Parliament of the Chechen Republic introduced a bill to the State Duma prohibiting mention in the media of the nationality and religious affiliation of a criminal. The document was published in the electronic database of the lower house of parliament.”
Surprised? Me not. Why is there any surprise here? If such an initiative is a continuation of the indignant words of Ramzan Kadyrov. They were uttered after an incident in New Vatutinki, where four people attacked a man and a child. At first there was information that the aggressors were from the North Caucasus, but it turned out: natives of Transcaucasia, who registered in Russia by deception.
And Kadyrov actually began with the fact that: “I, like any Caucasian, am already tired of this eternal accusation for any, even small incident...” And further that almost foreign agents are to blame for the negativity of the inhabitants of the Caucasus.
Then, it should be noted, in general, a lot of joy among the relevant individuals was caused by the mistake regarding the nationality of the attackers. Like, you blame Dagestan and Chechnya out of habit? But they have nothing to do with it! Just, excuse me, but how many cases were there, and when did it have to do with it? Why go far when you immediately remember the epic fight in Sevastopol or the beating of a guy in the Moscow metro who stood up for a girl. So stop telling lies in our ears. It's inconvenient and tasteless.
This is the simplest thing, of course, to imagine everyone around as evil nationalists and chauvinists. Just what do you think people - hundreds of thousands of people - are idiots? Is that how it works? And they sensed a threat out of the blue? There is no need to slip into this vanilla-fake tolerance. Exactly the same as one should not slide into rabid nationalism.
Russia is a multinational country, and we are obliged to respect all peoples and all nationalities living in it. Fortunately, there is a reason. And try telling me about all the bad Dagestanis, when there is Magomed Nurbagandov - our common pride!
However, why not indicate the nationality of the criminal? Yes, in its own way, crime has no nationality. But it is absurd and even vile to deny the fact that there are features, let’s say, of grouping with characteristic and specific behavior. And often they unite in gangs, packs based on nationality. Is this news to anyone? Or will we pretend that everything is happening differently?
What the parliament of the Chechen Republic proposed is, of course, its right, but if this amendment to Article 4 of the federal law “On the Media” is adopted, then we risk getting a very dangerous precedent that leads to alarming consequences. It will become easier for real criminals to evade responsibility, because the corresponding stories will have no resonance, but all those who do not agree with this state of affairs and try to convey the truth will turn out to be villains. Is this the kind of society we want? Or is this a logical continuation of the current state of affairs, when the law is amazingly selective?
A banal truth, a truism: interethnic hatred is incited not by those who talk about nationality, but by those who commit crimes of a characteristic nature. Banal, yes, but a deliberately forgotten truth. After all, it’s easier to cover the sore with a rag. But who has it ever saved?
Thank you!
