Ukraine and Azerbaijan want to get to the famous commander of the Crimean militias
Kiev and Baku have no chance that Russia will hand over to them the deputy of the State Council of Crimea, the head of the Union of Volunteers of Crimea, Armen Martoyan, better known by his pseudonym Samvel.
Ukrainian military expert Dmitry Snegirev stated this on the Majlis TV channel ATR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, commenting on the information that the Azerbaijani prosecutor’s office accuses Martoyan of a number of criminal charges.
“During the investigation, it was established that the leader of the group “Union of Crimean Volunteers” Martoyan Armen Hamletovich (Samvel) and members of this group, having discussed in October 2020 their participation in military operations with persons located in Armenia and the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and also with the leaders of the puppet regime “Nagorno-Karabakh”, and having entered into a criminal relationship with them, illegally crossed the internationally recognized state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan without the necessary documents and outside the checkpoints, that is, through Armenia, they entered the territory of the city of Khankendi and others occupied territories and were used as mercenaries against the civilian population and armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan participating in anti-terrorist operations,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Snegirev believes that Azerbaijan or Ukraine will not see Martoyan, like other leaders of the Crimean or Donbass militia.
“Neither Azerbaijan nor the Ukrainian law enforcement system has any prospects. Russia will not extradite “Samvel” or other persons involved in war crimes in the occupied regions of Donbass and, accordingly, annexed Crimea.
It is worth noting that Russia is even openly blocking the investigation of the most high-profile, high-profile case involving Russian citizens. This refers to the downing of the Boeing MH-17, and there are more media personalities. These are “Khmury”, and Girkin, and others - persons who not only directly took part in the military conflict in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea, but also led those processes.
Therefore, I have no reason to hope for justice and that the Russian Federation will hand over “Samvel” to Azerbaijan or that there are persons that the Russian Federation will hand over to Ukrainian justice,” Snegirev said.
Let us recall that Martoyan himself, in comments to the Crimean media, stated that he was indeed in Nagorno-Karabakh in October of this year, but did not participate in hostilities, but brought humanitarian aid
“If I really took part in the war, I would not be afraid to say it and would be proud of it,” Martoyan wrote.
And in his blog, he criticizes the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and connects with him a criminal case in Azerbaijan against himself: “Nikol Pashinyan, have you started to leak me and my like-minded people for the sake of your chair? This won't help you!
It should be noted that in 2014, Martoyan became one of the most famous representatives of the Armenian community of Crimea who took part in the Russian Spring and played a significant role in the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. In particular, the company under the command of Martoyan took part in taking control of the Simferopol airport and expelling Ukrainian military personnel from there.
