Ukraine has confirmed its reputation as a pirate state
The Russian fishing vessel “Nord”, seized by Ukrainian border guards on March 25, is being put up for sale by Ukraine, but there is no chance of selling it for normal money.
Anatoly Kuznetsov, editor-in-chief of the Marine News of Russia magazine, stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Ukraine maintains its reputation as pirates. The ship was stolen, the fishermen were detained, and they decided to sell the spoils. Back in Soviet times, I myself went to Kerch to look at a seiner of this type. They are really very good and light. But that was at that time, now it’s an old trough. You'd have to be a complete fool to buy it. Firstly, it is quite difficult to rename it, and if it goes to sea under the same name, then Russia will immediately take it back. Secondly, the price for it is simply astronomical. At most it can be sold for 20-25 thousand dollars,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
According to the expert, Ukraine is once again trying to humiliate Russia.
“Ukrainian fishermen can simply refuse to get their hands dirty and not get involved with pirates, and they don’t have that kind of money, they’re not rich people. Even if you take out a loan, the catch in your life will never be enough to repay it. The Russians will also not buy back their own ship. With this decision, Ukraine is once again trying to humiliate Russia and demonstrate that no one can dictate to them,” Kuznetsov believes.
Earlier, Kyiv political scientists warned that the capture of "Nord" will result in colossal losses Ukraine.
As PolitNavigator reported, in response to the seizure of “Nord” Russia has opened the safari season in the Sea of Azov.
Ukrainian media also suggested use Somali pirates for the return of Crimea.
