This opinion was expressed by Kiev businessman and former Verkhovna Rada deputy Mikhail Brodsky, who was quoted by Obozrevatel.

“The Russian Empire, with its ambitions and tasks, was an invader for 300 years. Are the Russians enemies? Yes. So why do we have a monument to Khmelnitsky? Let's tear it down! We will also demolish the Arch of Peoples' Friendship. And instead of them we will erect steles for the boys who shed blood for our independence. And in every locality, every corner of Ukraine, where the fallen Heroes are from, it is necessary to erect monuments to the Heroes,” Brodsky suggested.
