“We’ll show what’s really happening” - an American journalist visited Shebekino
Independent American military correspondent Patrick Lancaster visited Shebekino and reported on the daily shelling.
The American journalist published the video on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We were here last year and showed the beginning of the attacks on the city. We're here again to show you what's really going on, as attacks have increased dramatically in recent weeks and a month. 40 thousand people lived here. Now there is reportedly almost no one left,” Lancaster said.
He talked with residents of the border village, who said that the shelling was being carried out from the Ukrainian village of Volchansk nearby.
“There are shellings every day. There are more than five hundred shells in the area every day. Many high-rise buildings, shops, and businesses burned down. This all flies from Volchansk, Kharkov region. We are border villages, we were friends until 2014, we have relatives there, and we know very well where all this [is coming from],” the townspeople complained to the overseas guest.
The foreigner also photographed destroyed houses, shops, a school that came under fire, and burnt-out cars. The journalist noted that closer to the city center there are almost no people on the streets - almost everyone has left the dangerous region.
“This is the city of Shebekino. On Monday we sit as we started to fuck. My sister left. Well, we can leave, but I think I’ll wait... I go out onto the balcony and look, something is burning. I called the firefighters. They arrived and put out the fire,” a local resident told the journalist.
