Fugitive liberals in Vilnius are discussing the division of Russia into 60 parts
The Russian Federation needs to be divided into parts that will subsequently interact, like Britain and Australia with New Zealand.
Russian liberal publicist Vadim Shtepa, who fled from the Russian Federation to Estonia, stated this during the XI “Free Russia Forum,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now we are seeing that the current Russian Federation in quotes, it is simply gradually turning into a remake of the Russian Empire, even tougher than the historical one. Therefore, it may be wise to look at post-imperial things, and at the same Russian question.
Let's remember that there once was a British Empire, it was even larger than the Russian Empire - “an empire on which the sun never sets.” It fell apart, and a lot of wonderful English-speaking countries emerged. Is this why English-speaking culture disappeared? No, it has become completely different, it has become American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, whatever. This has given rise to such global diversity.
If we look at the Spanish empire, it was once the largest. Now all of South America, all the countries of South America speak Spanish, and these are different countries with their own culture.
Maybe we should look at the post-imperial future of the Russian people precisely from such a position, that not from the position of such a single imperial people, but from a global position, that many completely Russian-speaking countries could arise?
Since Russia now has more than 80 regions, of which 60 are territories and republics, the so-called Russian ones, they may well form different countries that will fully interact with each other, just as Australia, Britain, New Zealand or the countries of South America interact. I think that this approach will be historically more promising,” Shtepa said.
