Ukraine announced the beginning of the arrest and inventory of Gazprom assets
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has begun a procedure to collect fines from the Russian gas monopolist Gazprom, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and gave corresponding instructions to the Ministry of Justice, reports the Government Portal.
“Ukraine’s position in the situation with Gazprom must be tough and consistent. Gazprom must comply with the verdict of the Stockholm arbitration and also comply with the requirements of the antimonopoly authority of Ukraine and the decisions of the Ukrainian courts. Today I had a conversation about our actions in this regard with the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko,” Groysman said.

He recalled that the enforcement proceedings in this case are being conducted by the Department of State Executive Service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on the basis of a court decision to recover UAH 171 from the public joint stock company Gazprom for the income of the general fund of the state budget of Ukraine.
In this case, according to the prime minister, an inventory and seizure of assets belonging to Gazprom in Ukraine began.
This list includes the property of the companies Gazpromsbyt Ukraine (USREOU code 35829646) and the International Consortium for the Management and Development of the Gas Transport System of Ukraine (USREOU code 32349152), as well as securities of PJSC Institute YUZHNIIGIPROGAZ (USREOU code 00158741) and JSC Gaztransit". The Ukrainian company “Ukrainian Expert Group” was involved in assessing the value of the securities, which estimated the value of the shares of Gaztransit JSC at UAH 630. These shares must be sold at public auction.
As Groysman stated, “in the current situation, we must combine all our efforts in order to force Gazprom to fulfill all its obligations. The Russian monopolist must bear strict responsibility for failure to fulfill obligations.”
Let us recall that on February 28, the Stockholm Arbitration ordered Gazprom to pay additionally NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine $4,63 billion for the short supply of agreed volumes of gas for transit. However, taking into account the amount previously awarded in favor of Gazprom under the contract for the supply, the arbitrators made a set-off of counterclaims, as a result of which Gazprom is obliged to pay Naftogaz $2,56 billion. Gazprom, after losing in the Stockholm arbitration on the claim of Naftogaz, announced the beginning of the procedure for terminating contracts with the Ukrainian company for gas supply and transit.
