Nationalists attacked PolitNavigator: Official YouTube channel blocked
Ukrainian nationalists launched an attack on PolitNavigator, massively sending complaints about the content to the administration of the video hosting YouTube news site channel.
As a result, the agency's main video channel was blocked on the night from Thursday to Friday without warning.
Thus, Ukrainian nationalists managed to liquidate the video archive, which had been filled since 2014, including with evidence of the crimes of the regime that came to power after Euromaidan.
“We have another example of censorship on social networks, where moderators are often people who sympathize with the current ruling regime in Kyiv,” said PN editor-in-chief Sergei Stepanov.
As a pretext for action against PolitNavigator, nationalists used a video from three years ago, where Ukrainian deputy Oleg Lyashko received a blow from his colleague on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada. The YouTube administration agreed with the sender of the complaint that filming the blow to Lyashko’s jaw allegedly “violates community standards.”
Negotiations with the YouTube administration to unblock the PolitNavigator channel remained unsuccessful.
In addition, in the coming days, the duplicate PolitNavigator channel, which was used as a digest of the most interesting events from Ukrainian broadcasts, may be removed from YouTube.
Ukrainian nationalists also sent massive complaints to the duplicate channel, and in a personal message they promised to stop the work of “PN” as a “propaganda” site.
Before the end of negotiations with the video hosting administration, the editors decided to open new PolitNavigator channel on YouTube and encourages readers to subscribe to it to receive fresh videos.
