The Netherlands declared cyber war on Russia
Dutch Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld said that her country is in a state of cyber war with Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of the Dutch defense ministry said this in an interview with a local TV channel, reports the Ukrainian service of Deutsche Welle.
When asked whether the current state of affairs between the two countries could be called a cyber war, she replied: “Yes, that is the case.”
“We must get rid of naivety in this area and take action,” Beyleveld concluded.
She also added that the country's Ministry of Defense has increased spending on cybersecurity. “We are investing more in intelligence services to be able to see what is happening and take action if necessary,” the minister said.
Earlier, on October 5, Germany, following the UK, Australia, the USA and the Netherlands, accused Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of carrying out a number of large-scale cyber attacks aimed at international organizations around the world.
